RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Performs some major and minor repairs on vehicles, light/heavy trucks, vans, and forklifts.
- Conducts diagnostic troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Performs preventative maintenance and inspections.
- Assists other fleet mechanics.
- Responsible for parts, test driving & forklift operation.
- Completes driver reported VCR repairs.
- Performs general housekeeping duties in and around fleet garage.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Three (3)-ASE certifications or five (5) years of vehicle maintenance experience required. (Associate’s Degree in related field may substitute for certifications or years of experience.) Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical prior to their first day of employment.
- Must be able to obtain a CDL permit by the 15th business day and 45 business days from their date of hire in which to obtain the license, if CDL is not currently held.
- Gasoline, diesel, and propane fuel systems experience required.
- Onboard diagnostics and repair experience required.
- Must have experience with air and hydraulic brake systems, air conditioning, electrical systems, general vehicle repair, battery powered industrial equipment, and hydraulic systems. Basic welding skills required.
- Required to have his/her own standard mechanic’s tools.
- A good work ethic for daily physically and mentally challenging work is needed.
- Must enjoy working outside year-round when necessary.
- Must have strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to meet PBV driving qualifications.
- Must be able to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks.

- Constantly (67%-100%) required to walk and stand.
- Frequently (34%-66%) required to climb and lift up to 100 pounds.
- Occasionally (0%-33%) required to sit.
EQUIPMENT USED:
- General office equipment, welder, A/C machine, alignment machine brake lathe, tire machine, all safety related equipment, basic mechanic hand tools, diagnostic tools, air tools, steam cleaner, floor scrubber, forklift, vehicle lifts, and jacks.
- All types of road vehicles both light and heavy duty are used.
