Job Summary:
The Oil Change Technician provides fast, friendly, and accurate preventive maintenance services for customer vehicles. This entry-level role focuses on vehicle lubrication, fluid inspections, and replacing minor wear-and-tear components while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oil & Filter Services: Drain motor oil, remove and replace oil filters, and refill engines to factory specifications.
- Fluid Maintenance: Inspect, top off, or flush automotive fluids including windshield washer, transmission, power steering, brake, and coolant fluids.
- Tire & Wheel Care: Check tire pressure, inflate tires to recommended PSI, and perform tire rotations as needed.
- Minor Replacements: Install new wiper blades, air filters, cabin filters, and car batteries.
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct multi-point courtesy inspections and report any visible leaks, wear, or mechanical issues to senior mechanics or service advisors.
- Customer Service: Greet customers, help explain recommended maintenance services, and process work orders or payments. [1]
- Shop Upkeep: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work bay, properly store and dispose of used oil and filters, and restock floor inventory. [1]
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: No prior professional automotive experience required; on-the-job training is provided. Basic mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
- License: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Skills: Basic reading, writing, and math skills; ability to communicate clearly with customers and team members.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, which may include working in a service pit, under vehicle lifts, or in varying weather/shop conditions.
- Adherence to all safety rules, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
